DO NOW - ESOL

In ESOL we were told to do a little reflection about what we like about this term and so on.

I will start now.

A- Firstly in my opinion the best lesson that I have ever done was the WONDER novel. The reason behind is because everyone is reading at the same time and was focused on the task of reading it. Meaning there was no one who is talking and everything/everyone was quiet. While also doing the reading there was reading task about the book. Those questions are kinda like a summary for the whole book so It was kind of nice.

B- What I really enjoyed doing was the games that we did. I'm not fully sure what term it was but I would really want more of those types of games because not only it motivates everyone, It's also one way of learning..Other than learning everyone was having a great time and having fun!

C- The one task that I was really proud of was the WONDER task. There was five tasks and I completed all of them. Other than that me and my friends also helped each other with the answers so it was quite fun!

D- something that I can do better next term is that maybe finishing my task on time.

E- Maybe just like what I said, maybe we could have more games? Because it make everyone motivated and not only that, with games everyone was enjoying it so basically we all can rememeber what happened and what the game was about.

That is all for my blog! Thanks for reading!

Book Cover - The Cay - My version

Hello people! Today I just finished the book cover I made that was one of the task we were suppose to finish last week... This is kinda late but here it is.

That is all for my blog today!

The Cay Book review.

 The Cay Book review.

This book is made by Theodor Taylor. The book was originally published in 1996. The protaganist of this book is Philip Enright and Timothy as well as stew cat, the black cat. Other than them there are also other supporting characters such as Mom and dad and also his old friend Henrik van Boven.

This book is about a boy and an older man where both of them got stuck in a small island or known as the nameless Cay. They both got stuck there for a fiew months before getting rescued. They faced many many hard challeges while on the island.

This book is really good for any ages. It teaches you life lessons and many other things such as survival if your ever stuck in a cay.

The Cay book that was written by Theodore Taylor was set in 1942 in the middle of WWII. This war was fought between the Axis powers of the Germany, Italy, and Japan, along with the allied powers of the Great Britain, France, The United States, China and lastly the Soviet Union.

Personally my opinion to this book is just..It's really awsome. I don't really have anything to say, but so far from all the books I've read this one is my favourite and I would really like to read some more of this kind of books in the future.

If you ever wanna read this book online, I will link it here in my blog and hopefully it'll work! :>

Wonder

Or if that one doesn't work hopefully this one does..

Open steak sandwitch - Food

Hello people! Today I will be blogging about what we made in foods. Let's start!

Last Friday we cooked open steak sandwitch which tasted really good! I will be explaining how we made it! First Faye chopped the meat while I chop the vegies in pieces. Our teacher told us how to chop the meat so that's what Faye did. She rolled it to chop/slice it more easier and chopped the long one's in half after wards. After that we took a bowl and put the chopped garlic and onions, as well as the chopped meat. We mixed it with teriyaki sauce then started to cook it. Me and Faye added the capsicum along while cooking since me and Faye like it cooked, so we mixed it along. While cookign I started so it doesn't burn. our teacher gave all of us one bread for one person in each group. After cooking Fay ehelped me with the dishes and she started to dry them. One of the teacher aids that was with us helped us put the food into the bread, and after that I asked faye to add the rest of the vegetables. And there you go you have a Open Steak sandwitch!

I really love the taste of it. I can't really describe the taste since it was kind of mixed for me. But It was sweet and I really love it!

The Cay Chapter 12 - 13 Q + A

Hello people! Today I will be blogging about the Cay Q A that we have to answer.

1. How many days have Philip and Timothy on the cay?

2.What do Philip do to help Tomothy when he was sick?

3.Explain why Philip was ready to climb the coconut tree.

4.Why do you think Timothy is trying to teach Philip these survival skills?

5.What do you think Philip means when he asked "are you still black?"

My answer for those 5 questions are:

-They have been in the cay for 2 months.

-Philip took a piece of fabric from this clothing and wet it with cold water.

-He was ready to do more survival stuff because something might happen to him or Tomothy.

-I think he thought all of those things to Philip because something might happen to him so this is just a just incase.

-I think he meant is that what Philip thinks about black people isn't as the same as Tomothy's personality.

Anyways! That is all for my blog! Thanks for reading!

Eye Dissection - Science

This blog is about the dissection we did yesterday. What we dissected was a cow eye which was really cool!

What we have been learning about is about parts the eyes.

There are:

cornea - The outer layer that protects the eye.

Pupil - This is where the lights enter.

Iris - The Iris controls how much light comes in the eye.

Lens - The lens focuses the light to the retina

Retina - It converts the light to an electrical impules

Optic nerve - It passes the electrocal impules to the brain.

Humorous - The liquid thing inside the eye that makes the shape of the eye.

Recount

We were all in a groups ( as always) and I teamed up with my friends; Faye and Denise. Each of us have done different things. Denise took the photos since she was new to this, and Faye did a little bit of cutting the eye in half. Then I did the rest. First step we did was cut around the cornea. It was quite hard to poke it at first since we were trying to be careful not to let the liquid inside (which is the Humorous) splurt out. Other than poking it to cut it around, cutting around was not hard but it was a little bit difficult. After cutting the cornea and taking it off the part, we poured out the left Humorous that didn't get out of the eye when we were cutting it. Inside you can see this small slimy, wiggily yellow transparent liquid with the lens sticking on to it. After all of the looking I started to cut the rest in half and saw half of it covered in this amazing combination of colours (Not quite rainbow but you get what I mean) while the reast of it is all black. From what I've learned, those coloured part is actually what gives some night vision for the animals when it's night time. I don't really remember what the other thing it's for so I'm sorry about that but moving on.. After all of those we are done! We took some photos while on it.

Reflection-

What I really enjoyed about this dissection is that we get to learn what was inside the eye and what it actually look like inside.

That thing I found really interesting is that while we were cutting the cornea, it was really hard to cut through. That is because I thought that the cornea was gonna be really soft where to the point it's really easy to cut through.

I learned so many things by just dissecting a single cow eye. One thing is that inside the eye there are different kind of colours which I found really cool! I can't really think of anything else but yes that's what I learned!

What I actually didn't expect was that I thought there was gonna be blood inside but it turned out it was just Humorous was in there as a liquid.

Thanks for reading people!

Survival Tips if your ever stuck in a Cay

Hurricane

A Hurricane starts with the warm water found near the equator. It is usually only formed in tropical regions where the ocean is at least 80 degree Fahrenheit. Those warm water evaporate and creates warm moist air that acts as fuels for the storm. Of course wind is also needed for the hurricane to from.

Most hurricane are actually caused by the wind blowing across the atlantic Ocean from Africa. Those wind causes even more of the warm water to evaporate into the air. The warm moist goes up in the air where it cools down and the water vapor condeses back into liquid water droplets. Those water droplets from clouds including big and stormy oumulonimbus clouds! As the warm air continues to rise upward, the wind makes a circular motion around the center. Those circling winds gather up a bunch of big thunderstorm clouds. Once the spinning winds reaches 14 MPH, the storm has officially become a hurricane.

Once a hurricane hits land. It runs out of warm water and it's winds begin to weaken. However storms can still cause a lot of damage to the communities near the coast. Fortunately we have satellites that can monitor the storm and the upcoming storm. Also monitoring it's conditions down here on the earth. Once A hurricane forms, the satellites helps predict the storm's intesity and track the hurricane minute by minute. The information delivers early warning and it helps poeple to stay safe.

From this the two pieces I've learn is; Most hurricanes (as what I said earlier) is formed in tropical regions where the temperature of the Ocean is at least 80 degree Fahrenheit..

Most of the Hurricanes were actually caused by the wind blowing across the Antartic Ocean from Africa.

Every year from June-December, It is hurricane season.

Curacao is one of the island that is generally not hit by hurricanes. Curacao tends to be warmer than usual on the island during hurricane season. The reason behind this is because whenever there's a hurricane happening somewhere else, It takes all the wind leaving Curacao with less wind than usual, which leads to additional heat.

The last hurricane that struck Curacao in last September 23, 1877. There was actually no official names of hurricanes during that time. However is was know locally as Hurricane "Tecla" or "Orkan Grandi" . Those names means big hurricane in papiamento language.

My prediction -

I think this might relate to The Cay because as you can tell by the cover of the book, Timothy and Phillip was holding onto the tree tighly and by the looks of it, they look like they're experiencing a storm because of the heavy rain and there's lot's of water splashes everywhere.

Well That is all for my blog! Thanks for reading!
