ESOL - 100+ words challenge

 Hello people! Today I will be blogging about this weeks ESOL writing task!

This blog will be short but hopefully you like it!

-Friends

I met my friends here in New Zealand when I first came into our school. Those first few people were Faye, Zoe, Elisha, Qyn, Lyah and Jolly. They were the first few people I hung out with ever since I came here in HHS in 2019. After that we had our first few hangouts but it was only at the hub since we were really not allowed to go anywhere other than the hub by that time. Then the next year(which was last year)We met Stephanie and she was a year 7 by that time. When we saw her on the first day at school we thought she was not Filipino and some of us who were in her class tried to talk to her(which was me, Faye and Elisha) that is when we found out that she was a Filipino. After talking with her for sometime and since she was in our class she decided to hangout with us and the group! Artee also came into our group along with Lyah since she was friends with Lyah and we were also friends with Lyah.

This year we also met some new people, like for example: Kl or kurt and Alexis! We all went to many hangouts and did so many fun stuff!

ESOL - Unexpected reading

 Today We came to our last subject of the day. ESOL. As we came in the classroom where we are gonna be learning, our ESOL teacher started reading as we all quiet down and listened to her without knowing what was happening nor' what the tittle of the of the book she was reading, she never told us that she was about to read the book so we we're all kind of confused and just listened as she started reading the story.

As we listened to her reading the book, we all have noticed that the book was about a boy, Noah who is the main protagonist and the narrator of the story. As the story goes on we also noticed that Noah was talking about his life and his family starting from how his parents met to how their life goes on till the present he was in right now. I can you all a little bit of a recap of the story that our teacher read to us. It all started when his father met his mother at a bakery. I don’t really know much of what his father said about his mother but I do know that he said that his mother was cute at the end. Overall Noah said that before him and his siblings were even born, both of their parents really loved traveling even if they didn’t really have enough money, they also went back to kenya five times and including how his dad wanted to be a photographer at the age of 13. Noah was the eldest among the siblings, there are 3 of them and they’re all guys. 

Based on the quote that was given to us, “I guess we all kinda knew that our life was perfect and that we wouldn’t change a thing. But sometimes you don’t get that choice, do you? Sometimes stuff happens that you would try to do anything to avoid. But you can’t and that’s what happened to us”  My prediction on what will happen next is that, there will be a new challenge coming upon them that is just right ahead waiting that they can’t expect. 

 

9ESOL

 Hello people today I will be talking about the game we have played in groups and individually. 

First up I will be telling you the game we played in groups, It is called the "Hot Potato". We were all divided into three groups. Each group have to have a paper in front of each group member and a pencil or a pen. We all have to make up a story with only each person writing one word at a time. It was kind of a challenge and a huge mess but it was fun and everyone participated in the game and enjoyed it. However the sentences didn't really made any sense so we all re-written the sentence into a proper one. No we didn't get the first paper we got but the paper we got from the last word we written. If it's alright I will be sharing you all the sentence me and my group made. 

Original: "One day a time we walked to store and saw a cat and dog they were ugleh" 

Fixed: "One day, We walked into the store and saw a cat and dog without their owner and they were ugly"

That was for the Hot Potato game.

Now I will be talking about the individual game we all have played. How we play is we will all the paper from the last game we played and use the back or the remaining space at the bottom of the paper. We all have to write a little story using the alphabetical order in each word in the sentence of the story. However I can't really show you an example of this individual game we have played however I will try and find an example of it from google. Turns out I can't find any from google so I will try and make up one hehe..

ESOL

 Hello people Today I will be talking about what are some fun things we do in ESOL. 

Today we play a little quiz about the tittle of the books and the name of the characters in the books. Everyone was screaming and hipping up each other.

I really find games like these really fun and challenging. I hope we could do more games like this in the future. I also really like guessing games where everyone is playing it but with teams and stuff. I also really like doing like group games, debates and more.

I also would like it if we do writing id be more fun if the writing have interesting questions or words in it just like the one we did last time with three words and make up a story about it. 

9ESOL - This weeks challenges

 Hello people today I will be blogging about the challenging stuff we have done in ESOL this week.

So to start of I will be talking about the three word short story we made today. We were given three words to make up stories with. Those three words were Contemplate, Courageous and Cornucopia.

Its kind of hard to think of a story line with words you have never heard of used before so instead I made it really simple and random. 

This Tuesday we also did a reading task. After reading the short story we have to answer few questions about the story. Some questions doesn't really made any sense so I got confused at some point but at least I got to answer them all.

There once was a 15 year old teenage girl who has always loved fruits and vegetables ever since

she was a little girl.  Her name was Kliana. Whenever she goes to school she would always have

her own lunch with fruits and vegetables in it. A lot of people don’t normally eat healthy food but

unlike any other children her age she doesn’t care about what other people think about her, she

just wants to eat her fruits and vegetables and get healthy..  

One time there was a school festival going on in her school so she decided why not make a

Cornucopia everyone in the school can look at it and be amazed by the creativity of the style

that is put in with the fruits and vegetables. 

  Kliana was a Courageous  teenage girl, if she wanted to do something that is right and for people to see the importance of

one thing. She will do it, she will do it without any hesitatAfter school she went to the  market to buy the supplies including the fruits and vegetables.

She contemplate the fruits one by one to see if they are in a good condition so she could buy them.

After she finished buying the stuff she needed she headed straight home to make the Cornucopia

for the festival which was happening the following day.

The school festival day finally came. She headed to her spot and placed down the Cornucopia in

the middle of the table. Good thing everything went well for her and a lot of people were also

interested in this type of stuff. She was really happy with the outcome. She came home with a

happy face because not only people only learned about something new, she also got new friends

because of it. 

Ever since then she kept doing this every year for the first years that comes to the school. She

once said “Everything can be possible if you keep trying.”

Athletics Day

 Hello people! Today I will be blogging about the Athletics that happened yesterday. There were many sports events that happened yesterday and I will be giving you four of those events that we did; High jump, Discus circle 2, 60m run and then shut put circle. Those sports was the one that all the year 9 girls did.

 After the sport events every Kahui gathered up in one line to watch the relay race that happened yesterday at 2:00 pm which was the last event of the sports event. There three Kahui's; Mohua, Riroriro then Tieke my/our Kahui. Every Kahui have their own colours just like Mohua they have the color gold, Blue for Rirorio then red for us Tieke. For the Relay run Riroriro came first one the race then our our Kahui(Tieke) came second. 

Every Kahui have their own chant and I will be telling you the chant we did for our Kahui.

9ESOL-What I like to do In the weekends

What I like to do in the weekends

Hello people today I will be sharing with you guys what I like to do on the weekends. 

I will start of with watching anime. Whenever I'm bored I watch a lot of anime or even re-watching some of them, I will list some of the anime I have watched so far Bungo stray dogs(season 1), Assassination classroom(season 1,2,3), Violet Evergarden(The Movie) and more. I even sometimes watch some Amv's of the anime's I have watched. If you are wondering what amv is, well it's basically an anime music video where some people on YouTube make some wonderful piece of work where they put all the fighting scenes or part of the scenes from the anime and put it on the beat of the music that they chose.

I also like drawing or painting whenever I'm bored or not in the mood to watch anything. I normally draw anime and stuff but I also like drawing scenery that I like to see and paint it, or just leave it as a sketch. Whenever I paint something it's mostly a landscape but also some characters I find from the anime I watch. Some can be tricky to paint but whenever I make a mistake I just cover it up so it won't be noticeable or just put another design or thing in there.

Or When I am not doing anything and not really in the mood to do anything I listen to music and just read books that I like and that is interesting to me.

Me and my family sometimes go out and just go off somewhere but mostly in Westfield and the Warehouse. We normally go to Westfield first to wander around and find something that we can buy like clothing and stuff. But whenever we go to the Warehouse we go there to buy some stationary or to buy some stuff for the house.

But whenever I'm just stuck in the house I sometimes just chat with my friends for the most of the time or even just have a video call with them in messenger, Our calls usually end up after hours and hours later and it's kinda funny how that is. My friends that were in that group chat were Faye, Zoe, KL(Kurt louis), Jolly rose, Mark and Emalea.

Today in ESOL we learned a new way/strategist to write a blog and it is called 321 RIQ. 

I will be telling you what 321 and RIQ means or what it stands for.

3 R-3 things I remember about the lesson.

2 I-2 new thing I learnt in this lesson.

1 Q-1 question I have about something i Didn't understand or still want to know more about.

And those are the meaning of those. Now I will be talking about what we did last week and this week on Tuesday. Last week we didn't really do much work but, We did a game that can help us to get to know each other more.

 Almost all of already know each other in the room but the teacher doesn't know much about us yet so we played that game. The game doesn't really have a name so we called The Name Game just because it helps us know each other's name. The game was kinda hard but it was fun. All of us have to repeat the last person's name and the name before that person. That also includes the sentence they said. It's kinda hard for some of us but at least that helped our teacher get to know us more better!

This week from last Tuesday we did this essay that thanks about what is the advantages of blogging and the things that can help us learn new things from blogging and also help other people learn new things from the blog we made.

I will be showing you the essay(Or I think so) we have or I have made.

"For me Blogging makes me find out more about stuff I haven’t learned before and sharing it to my blog so other people can also learn about those interesting facts I have learned for that day. It also helps me improve my writing and reading in such ways that also helps my language in english. 

Sometimes it's kinda hard to do the task when the teachers talk too much and kind of don't say anything specifically and keep saying stuff that doesn’t really help on what we are doing on that subject.  I like it when The teachers say The task properly like for example I’m going to pick the subject for the example, and that is writing for example (Now I’m going to do writing since this is writing related) I like it when the teachers say this kind of stuff “OK everyone we will be writing about this(The subject we’re are going to write about) I want you all to make an essay about it, but before that I will give you all an example of what it is about or how you will start it off, these will give you some ideas of what you should write on your papers etc. I will write it on the board. You guys can still look at it if you get lost or some sort.” 

I also really like it when the teachers help us do our writing or check on us while we’re doing our task just to make sure we’re in the right place and task. Sometimes It’s kinda embarrassing to go up and go to the teacher to ask some questions, so sometimes some of us don’t ask the teachers for help but instead our friends, but sometimes our friends also don’t so we have no choice but to go up in front and ask the teacher... 

I don't really like it when the teacher talks too much because my head is all over the place and I feel dizzy from all the talking and I can’t make my mind think in one place…

But sometimes I like writing especially when I like the topic we’re doing for that subject and that is for example Writing a story on our own fanfic or stories."
