Yes Matariki should be a public holiday indeed! Because Matariki is just any other holiday's that people celebrate, so that is why they should also consider making Matariki a public holiday..Matariki is also really important for those Maori people who celebrate this and since we all also have our own cultural New years that we celebrate than us people normally do! Just like Chinese new years! Chinese people also celebrate their new year in a different ways, time, month and etc.  So that is why I think we should make Matariki a public holiday!

Week 8 - Do Now Activity

 Hello people! Today I will be blogging about a new To do now activity! We all know how this goes, let's get started! 

Topic: English is the most important subject to learn in school

Yes indeed! English is one thing that everyone must know so that we all can communicate with each other! However there are also other subjects as important as English. Here's my reason, learning English can be a great advantage for most of us people. There are many people who has other language that most of us probably haven't even heard of yet and don't even know what kind of language it is or how to understand or even how to say that specific language. There are many languages used here in the world and many of us can't understand or say those words and the only way we use to communicate is by using translators, learning the language itself, and that probably take more time or even years! It's the same goes for learning English..However learning English, you can use it anywhere! There's lots of people who can understand and even speak this language! So that is Why I think English is one of the most important language to learn in school.

Concentration and Dilution - Chemistry

 Hello people! Today We will be doing another experiment in this period. 

Also for today's key words we have Concentration and Dilute.

Concentration - A measure of how much solute has been dissolved onto the solvent or in other words, how much solute there is in the solution.

We also can measure it in two ways

- How dilute something is...(how weak it is)

- How Concentrated something is..(how strong it is)

Dilution - Making something less concentrated or there will be less particles in the liquid.

Experiment: Serial Dilution

Aim for today: Cary out (Do) a serial Dilution with potassium Permanganate. 

Hypothesis: For me I think since we have 6 test tubes, one will be more like a dark purple and in process in those last few test tubes the colours will be more lighter. 

Method:

-10ml water in tube 1. 5ml water in the other 5 tubes.

-Use tweezers to put small piece of KMnO4 into tube 1.mix it.

-Use pipette to more 5ml from tube 1 -> tube 2. Mix

 

After Experiment: 

So we have done the Experiment and just like what I expected it came from a dark purple to a very light pick-ish purple.

The first test tube was really concentrated and once we started to put it to another test tube it was becoming more less concentrated than before. We continued on doing that and you can tell that it was becoming more less dilute.

Chromatography - Science

 Hello people! Today I will be blogging about today's experiment/work. 

As any other science blog that I do we will be having such as what is the meaning of what, the aim, hypothesis and the method.

What is Chromatography? 

Chromatography is a process of separating a mixture based on the pigments..

What is Pigments?

Pigments are natural colours of animal or plant tissue.

Aim: Is to separate the different pigments from ink using chromatography

HYPOTHESIS- My Hypothesis is that colors will go up and the the colors that I has will separate from each other..

EQUIPMENT- Felt tip pen, filter paper strips, test tube, measuring cylinder, pencil.

Hello people! Today I will be blogging about the task that we were given in English! This task is about Mother Teresa and we have to read a little bit about her from a slide that miss made about her. After reading the little facts or short story, we were asked to answer these questions. Ya'll can just read it and learn a little bit more of who Mother Teresa is!

1. When she was born, what name was she given? 

Mother Teresa was born on 26th of August in 1910.

2. At what age did she join the Sisters of Loreto? 

She was 18 Years old when she joined the sisters loreto.

3. Explain her calling from God. 

She was on a train ride when she heard a name calling from god to leave the school and go to work to help the disadvantaged, poor and sick people in the slums at Calcutta.

4. a. Having won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979, why did Mother Teresa turn 

down the prize winner’s banquet? 

Though there's no prize that can honour her enough, The 'Blessed Teresa of Calcutta' received the noble prize at 1979 for her work accepting to face challenges like struggles that she has to go through to overcome poverty and distress in the world.

b. What does this say about her as a person? 

In my opinion the way that I look at her as a person is that she has a kind and loving heart because of the way she helped so many poor people who are in need of help.

5. Write down two adjectives to describe Mother Teresa. 

She was Kind and a hard working person.

6. Explain the Missionaries of Charity. 

Mother Teresa established the missionaries of charity to provide support for those people who are in need.

7. When did she die?

She died on the 5th of september on 1997.

She will be remembered for her kindness to all people around her!

In my opinion her purpose in life is to help people who’s in need.

To Do now - week 6

 Hello people! Today We will be doing another to do now activity! We all know the drill! Let's get started!

Today's topic will be.. "Your name is an important part of who you are"

Yes our name is indeed one of the most important part of who we are so we that we can identify each other! Having a name is really important because we can't just call everyone "boy" or "girl" I'll be really confusing for most of us! So we need to give someone a name, a name that is a little bit different than the people who are around them so they know who is who and you know who is who. Some people may be just fine with having with not name, but the thing is if you're with your friends outside and the place you guys are hangout on is crowed by people and your name is girl or boy, it would get really confusing when you call one of your friend out(let's go with girl) and said "hey girl!" then every female just looks at you because they also have the same name as your friend, but not just your friend! you also have that name! So that is why having a name is one of the most important part of who we are, so that we know who we also are!

To Do Now - Week 5

Hello people! Today I will be doing another to do now activity! But today is a little bit different!.. This time the topic will be about us. To this point we will talking about our selves in a different way. I'll show you guys after you read this part of the intro! And I'm not sure if we will not be using the oreo strategy so.. I'm gonna go with not using it since it looks like its gonna be harder.. Anyways! Let's get started!

 Hi! I have a friend who's name is Kristille ann and she really like arts! She has been improving her skills at drawing lately and I think her skills are growing more everytime she draws!.. Other than drawing, since she loves arts, she also likes painting! She's not really good at it that much but she does know that she feels like painting landscapes are more easier than painting an anime character! Oh I also for got to mention that she likes to draw anime characters meaning she can't really draw realistic.. She also likes to do crafts and little miniatures, but she is mainly focusing on the drawing by hand and painting mostly the for now!.. Other than drawing she also really like to sing and dance! She got this hobby when she was little by her parents and also other friends! In her country singing and dancing is kind of the normal thing for them. Sometimes they get to sing/dance at a birthday party or ay graduations or event school events! (oh I also forgot to mention that in her country every event that happens in her school or even other schools, will always do performances like dancing or singing!) She also likes many other things to do but let's stick with that one for now! ;)

There was once a New Zealander who was the first person to ever climb the summit of Mt.Everest along

with another person. His name was Edmund Hillary and the person he was with was Tenzing Norgay! 

Edmund Hillary was born on the 20th of July 1919 in Auckland New Zealand Then later on died on the 11th

of January in 2008. Edmund Hillary has both parents and two siblings. Gertrude Hillary was Edmund’s mother.

She was born on the 3rd of May 1893 and later on died in 1965. Percival Augustus Hillary, Edmunds Father.

He was born on the 12th of September 1885 and died on the 4th of July 1965. Other than that His father

used to be a farmer, a beekeeper and a Newspaper editor, of Tuakau. In the 1920s they/he moved from

Auckland to a farm near Tuakau. He also established a weekly newspaper, the Tuakau district news then

later on became a beekeeper. June Hillary Edmund is Hillary's sister( And I never really got to get much

info about her so I'm just gonna keep it that way, that she is Edmund Hillary’s sister) Rex Hillary Edmund,

Hillary's brother. He was born on 5th of October 1920 in Auckland, New Zealand then later on died on the

1st of September 2004.

Hillary was married to Louise Mary Rose on the 3rd of September and had three children:

Peter(born in 1954), Sarah(born in 1956) and lastly Belinda(Born at 1959 and died at 1975) Belinda

and her mother Louise died due to a plane crash accident that happened near Kathmandu Airport shortly

after take off..

Edmuch Hillary was the first person to climb mount Everest summit that is about 29,035 feet and 8.50

meters high.Other than that he was also an Antarctic explorer along with a Tibetan mountaineer, Tenzing

Norgay. They reached the summit of Mt. Everest on the 29th of May 1953, four days before the coronation of

Queen Elizabeth II. The both of them, Hillary and the experienced Tenzing were able to reach the

8848-m summit of Mt Everest via the south-east ridge. Both of them were part of the ninth British

expedition to Everest that was led by John Hunt. From 1985 to 1988 he served as New Zealand's High

Commissioner to India and Bangladesh and to the concurrent Ambassador to Nepal.Other than those he

was also a Philanthropist!

Edmund was also knighted by Queen Elizabeth II who was recently crowned around their timeline, along

with John Hunt(the leader of the expedition) because of their hard working, amazing effort! Norgay also

only received a medal for his efforts because the prime minister of India did not allow him to be knighted. 

 

Overall Hillary was the first person to reach the summit of Mt.Everest along with another person and was

knighted by the crowned Queen, Queen Elizabeth the second because of his amazing efforts, commitment,

resilience and hardwork. It started off as him being inspired by numbers of adventure stories he use to

read and it started became his dream to become a mountaineer and an Antarctic explorer who ended up

being able to reach his dreams and became known and influential to people around the world!

Do Now Activity - week 5

 Hello people! Today I will be blogging about another Do Now Activity! 

Today's Topic will be: 

The principal is the most important person in the school

Yes Principal's are indeed the most important person in the school. However other people like teachers are also just as important! Reasoning is that the principal is the main person who keeps the school going and alive, so if there is no principal the school will go down because no one is leading and telling the people who works for them what they should do or what there main job would be for the school. Here's an example: Teachers job is to teach the children to learn more and to grown more everyday and to make those learning more fun so that they would want to learn more and they could also enjoy their day because that can also help them with their mental health! And a principals job it to make that happen. And those student's they teach may also become a principal or a teacher one day to teach other children! Or they can also learn something new from the school and help those people/kids they know to learn the things they learned from school who cannot afford to go to school. So that is why in ever school the principal is the most important person!

Shark Infested Custard - last day game day

 Hello people! Today I will be blogging the last game we played here health. The last game we played was (as you can tell by the tittle) Shark Infested Custard. We were in a group of three teams with 7 people in each. People in my/our group was Faye, Leo, Hamid, Chelsea, Travis and Serabuth including me of course. 

The rules of this games is to have three hoops and we have to step inside the hoops to cross to the other side of the court and we also cannot step out of the hoops because once we do we have to start over from the starting point. The game was actually really fun and after we finished it we had another game of "Who can hold the hola hoop the longest" and we became second once again..Oh also I forgot to mention that we became second on the first game we did. 

The Ip skills me and my team picked was Verbal, manaakitanga or being inclusive and Negotiation and compromise. And the warm fuzzies I did was "You can do it" 

Maybe the next time we do it again i wouldn't really change anything since it was really fine.

Game day - multi games

 Hello people! Today I will be blogging the games we did today in health. I were in group between 2 to 4 and I teamed up with Leo. The games we first started with was Uno then connect 4 shots, ping pong and guess who for the last one. There are actually other games that we didn't get to play like Janga and operation. 

Also the Ip skills I used was verbal communication, active listening and manaakitanga or being inclusive.

We don't really have any pictures that I can show you so sorry for that..

Anyways! Maybe if we do this again next time, we should make the time much faster so that everyone get to play all the game that was set up for us to play with. But overall everything was really fun!

And I think the Helisons behavior model I was in is probably level three because we didn't really need any teachers supervision on that day and we did what we were suppose to do!

Filtration - chemistry experiment

 Hello people! today we will be doing a little bit of experiment on chemistry at science. At as you can tell by the tittle we will be doing some filtration in this experiment.

I will be telling you guys some keys words that we need.

1) Filtering: Separating different sized particles out of a mixture.

(not all mixtures cannot be filtered. only works with different sized(soluble) can be filtered) (If it has dissolved into the liquid it has to be separated a different way.)

2) Solution: A mixture of 2 or more things.

Experiment: 

-Make a mixture                                                                                     Copper Sulfate

-What we are using                                                                                 -Light Blue

                                                                                                                Liquid,Transparent

                                                                                                              Sodium carbonate

                                                                                                                -Colourless, liquid and 

                                                                                                                 transparent

Hypothesis

Since we will be doing this experiment we also need to have a hypothesis of what will happen if we mix those two chemicals together! And I think what will happen next is that is either change colors  and mix or the chemicals separate from one another.

The Method that we will be using.

Method: 

1. Pour approximately 50mL of copper sulfate solution into a beaker.

2. Add the same volume of sodium carbonate solution. A reaction will happen, you should see a cloudy blue precipitate form. Called copper carbonate. 

3. Watch demo then fold filter paper to fit inside the funnel

4. Place the funnel with the filter paper inside of it, into the mouth of a conical flask. 

5. Stir the mixture in the beaker, then carefully pour it into the funnel. 

6. Observe what happened.

After experiment

We and my friend in my group started to put the copper sulfate in the beaker first for 50ml then added the sodium carbonate for also 50ml and that makes it 100ml. When we mixed both of the chemicals together, the colour of the copper sulfate which was colour light transparent, see through blue became solid blue! We put it in the conical flask and started to filter it. While filtering we saw a clear liquid dropping down!
