Tell different stories

 Hello people, Today I will blog about Inclusiveness “Tell Different Stories”

We have this 23 vocabulary Matching exercise we needed to answer, We have all the definitions and the word of it.

 

This is what it looked like. 

Cliche

  • A phrase or opinion that is overused and betrays a lack of original thought

Minorities

  • Sociological. Louis Wirth defined a minority group as "a group of people who, because of their physical or cultural characteristics, are singled out from the others in the society in which they live for differential and unequal treatment, and who therefore regard themselves as objects of collective discrimination".

Connections

  • A relationship in which a person or thing is linked 

Inequalities

  • Difference in circumstances, lack of equality

Universally

  • Meaning by everyone; in every case

Resistance

  • The refusal to accept or comply with something

Other

  • Refer to a person or thing that is different or distinct from one already mentioned or known about

Democratic

  • Supporting  democracy or its principles; a form of government in which the common people hold political power and can rule either directly or through elected representatives. 

Refugees

  • A person who has been forced to leave their country in order to escape war, persecution, or natural disaster

Dehumanisation

  • Depriving a person or group of positive human qualities

Disadvantaged

  • (of a person or area) in unfavourable circumstances, especially with regard to money or social opportunities.

Empathise

  • To understand and share feelings of another

Bigotry

  • Intolerance towards those who hold different opinions than you

Abstraction

  • Something which exists only as an idea

Dogmatism

  • To say something is true, without consideration of evidence or the opinions of others

Austerity

  • Difficult economic conditions created by government measures to reduce public spending

Generalisations

generalisations about others if we know close to nothing about them; if they remain an abstraction.

Patriarchy

  • A system of society or government in which men hold the power and women are largely excluded from it

Relevant

  • Closely connected or appropriate to what is being done or considered

Bias

  • Prejudice for or against one person or group, especially in a way considered to be unfair

Systematic

  • Acting according to a fixed plan or system; methodical

Rehumanising

  • Reversing the damage done by dehumanising

Disparate

All these seemingly disparate events have one fundamental thing in common: a systematic hatred of and bias against people who are regarded as different; the dehumanisation of the “other”.

We also have this article we needed to read to answer 6 questions and put the right answers in it. As you can see in the table there are many deep words that people rarely even know.
