ESOL - 100+ words challenge

Hello people! Today I will be blogging about this weeks ESOL writing task!

This blog will be short but hopefully you like it!

-Friends

I met my friends here in New Zealand when I first came into our school. Those first few people were Faye, Zoe, Elisha, Qyn, Lyah and Jolly. They were the first few people I hung out with ever since I came here in HHS in 2019. After that we had our first few hangouts but it was only at the hub since we were really not allowed to go anywhere other than the hub by that time. Then the next year(which was last year)We met Stephanie and she was a year 7 by that time. When we saw her on the first day at school we thought she was not Filipino and some of us who were in her class tried to talk to her(which was me, Faye and Elisha) that is when we found out that she was a Filipino. After talking with her for sometime and since she was in our class she decided to hangout with us and the group! Artee also came into our group along with Lyah since she was friends with Lyah and we were also friends with Lyah.

This year we also met some new people, like for example: Kl or kurt and Alexis! We all went to many hangouts and did so many fun stuff!

Anyways that's all for my blog today! Thanks for reading!

Wga - Number 8 Wire Mentality

Hello people! Today I will be blogging about The number 8 wire Mentality we did in wga! Everyone in our class and I will be sharing you guys what this 8 wire mentality thing is about.

I will be sharing you guys what this is so I'm sorry If I just copied and pasted the whole doc in here...

What Is It?

Number 8 wire is a gauge of steel wire often used in rural fencing.

Wire fencing used to cost a lot of money. Farmers couldn’t afford to  fence the whole farm, so they would mainly put fences around gardens, crops  and orchards to stop stock from ruining them.

In the 1850s, cheaper steel became available, which meant that wire fencing was also  less expensive. The fencing came in different sizes called gauges. The preferred gauge was  called number 8 wire. It is now known as 4.00mm gauge wire.

New Zealand Attitudes

In the past, number 8 wire was widely used in New Zealand. Remote farms had rolls  of the wire on hand. It was hard for some of these isolated farms to get new supplies,  meaning farmers needed to make do with what they had. Number 8 wire and other scrap  materials were often used in creative ways to solve problems.

New Zealanders became known as having a can-do attitude. They often needed to think  outside the box to solve a problem. This ability to make do and fix things with what  was available became known as the ‘number 8 wire mentality’. It is also referred to as  ‘Kiwi ingenuity’.

Many inventors used this attitude to make do and give things a go, resulting in some  interesting new inventions.

  • The jetboat

  • Electric Fencing

  • Bungy Jumping

  • The Eggbeater

This is a term used to describe the 'can do' attitude of many New Zealanders. A can-do attitude is one aspect of (choose the best answer)

Add up your total score and review your ratings on each element. Think about what made you give a rating a lower score and what you could do to get the score closer to 10. Doing this exercise will help you to recognize where you are in terms of resilience and identify where you can improve from your current state of resilience.

By the end of this week, write a post for your student blog about an example of how you have shown how you have shown resilience.

Anyways as you can see there we were also asked some few questions to rate ourselves to 1-10..

Anyways that's all for today's blog! I'm sorry I didn't wrote anything that much but hopefully you enjoyed reading today's blog!

Do Now Activity - Week 4 - lesson 2

Hello people! Today I will be blogging about today's task in English which is once again a Do now activity!

Today's topic will be about...

"Rugby is the most influential sports in New Zealand"

Rugby is the most influential in new Zealand because lots of people enjoy playing this sport and it's popular among people around at New Zealand. Reason is lots people like playing this sports everywhere! like for example, lots of kids/high schoolers like to play it inside or outside school with there mates! There is even many teams/people that are popular because of this sport. Even some adults play this sports with their other friends! Other than that there are also lots of other sports out there that people also enjoy the most! Also for example there is also a lot of teams that is popular around here in New Zealand that makes this whole thing even more popular among people here in New Zealand, just like All blacks, Crusaders, Blues and many more! And this is why I think Rugby is the most influential sports in New Zealand.

Rubber band cup mover challenge

Hello people! Today we played a new game at health and once again this game is about interpersonal skills!

Today the game we played were called "rubber band cup mover".. We were all in teams and I was teamed with Faye, Issac and Jesse. This activity was actually quite fun since me and my friend Faye were able to team up with people we don't normally team up with and everyone in our team was able to communicate with each other very well!

Anyways..I will be explaining how we played the game that we just played. The rules in this game was to move the cub to another table but one by one only, We cannot touch the cup to put it or drop it on the table. We were given 5 cups, five strings and one rubber band. Those are the materials that we used to moved the cup to another table. This game was quite challenging but we all shared some Ideas with each other and we all included that ideas and made it worked.

The ip skills I have used was Active listening, being inclusive and Negotiation and compromise.

For active listening, I listened to ideas that us group shared with each other and for being inclusive I didn't had any problem who my teammates were, and for the Negotiation just like what I said everyone shared each others Ideas and putted it in one big idea!

The next time we do it I don't really have anything to change since everyone in our group we being inclusive and everyone listened to each others ideas and everyone also joined the activity! It was fun that everyone joined in and enjoyed the activity.

I think the Level I got today was level 3. Since we worked altogether with out the teachers supervision and everyone set and works towards achieving goals.

Heres a picture of everyone in our group!

That's all for today's blog! thanks for reading!

Interpersonal skills - Marshmallow tower challenge game

Hello people! Today I will be blogging about the game we have played in health! And as you can tell by the tittle the game we played was Marshmallow tower challenge. We were all in teams and I was teamed with Faye and Leo. It was actually really fun playing with other people because we can actually get to know each other more. I'm most likely to be Faye almost all the time so being with leo in this game is kind of a change of pace..but overall even though we didn't win I had fun playing the game with them.

I think today the ip skills that I have used was verbal communication and as well the team that I worked with!

I think verbal communication helped us out by us talking/communicating together on some strategies that we could use that could help with the challenge that we were about to join in and it also helped out because we get to talk together and we get to understand each other by talking about our ideas. I worked well with Faye and Leo today and it was quite challenging but it was fun.

Maybe if we are going to do this game once again, maybe we can try not to make the very top to heavy since it have to stand up straight..

I think the level I achieved that day was level 3.. But I think level 3 is the level I chose because me and my team were able to undertakes to learn and practice skills without our teachers supervision.

well that's all for today's blog! Thanks for reading!

Science - Chemistry - dissolving blog post

Hello people! Today I will be blogging about what we did today at Science.

Here's a picture of one thing that we did before our .

I'm actually not sure if these are correct but hopefully it is..

Other than that We also have this thing called "Soluble and Insoluble"

Soluble and something that you an dissolve and Insoluble is something you can't but by only specific liquids or something.

Soluble
-raro
-sugar
-salt

Insoluble
-Sand
-Oil
-wood
-metals
                                                                                                               -plastic
                                                                                                               -flour

Other than that we also did a little experiment on it. we had three types of water which was hot, warm and cold water. We all putted the same amount of sugar in each water and we started to stir the hot one first then the cold and the warm last. And of course the hot one and the warm ones dissolved first and the cold one is last.We all timed it and find out which one dissolved first. We were all in teams and I was in teams with Faye and Issac.

Do Now Activity - week 3

Hello people! today I will be blogging about our Do now task once again!

And the topic for today is....

Students should have mufti often

And of course once again I will be using the Oreo strategies for this writing.

For I think i'd be a great idea to have mufti often even if it's just once a week so that people can be comfortable for at least just a day in a week in every term. My reasoning is that some people can use this day to wear something they want to wear that is comfortable for them and they can also use that day to wear mufti because they might have their uniform in the wash and they don't have any extra uniform to wear on that day. My other reason is that by having mufti people can express themselves by wearing something they are comfortable wearing and people get to know each others clothing styles. Like example in a week we all have mufti on Wednesdays and people can use that time to express themselves to other people or show their clothing off or even use that time to wash their clothes etc. So that Is why I think we should have mufti often even if it's just once in a week.

Social studies - Mother Teresa

Hello people! Today I will be blogging about today's last period and that is social studies. All of us were given a choice on who to make a research off and to write down all about them and their qualities. And because of that I decided to research Mother Teresa. I used Wikipedia as a source of info about Mother Teresa and her family.

Here's a slide I have made for Mother Teresa with some info I have found about her.

For me I think she's really amazing because she helped a lot of people her own way and I can't really say anything more than that because I haven't found any good information's about her but I do know that she is amazing!

That's all for today's blog! I hope you enjoyed reading it!

Week 2 - Do Now Activity

Hello people today my blog with be about today's first period. Just like last time this subject is English and we are all required to do a Do do now writing activity. And because of that of course we have a new topic!

Topic: School uniforms should not be mandatory

For me I think it should be mandatory since students must wear their school uniforms at all time because it is important so students won't be lost if they're on a field trip or something and it also represent your school. We all know that wearing a school uniform sometimes can be annoying but wearing it can also be really important because if we're all in a school trip and you got lost having no school uniform wouldn't help you at all since people won't know if your lost or what school you are from. You also don't have to worry about what you have to wear everyday and it also represent your school. So this is why I think We all should wear our uniforms to school.

Week 1 - Do Now Activity - lesson 2

Hello people! Today I will be blogging about today's first period task. For our first period we have hur 1 and as you can tell by the title this is the second day of doing the do now activity. Anyways without further I do! I'm gonna get started.

So the Topic for today is-

"Elephants are the greatest animal of all time"

I think that Elephants are amazing but there are also many other animals that are as amazing as Elephants. I thought of this because each animals have it's own unique ways of doing it's jobs, appearances etc. I wouldn't really say Elephants are the greatest of all time since we all know that there are many other more animals that can do a lot more than Elephants can. we also know that Elephants are really cool because they can do lots of amazing tricks just like with their nose for example but any other animals can also do lots of amazing tricks if they're trained really well but each animals have their own unique thing with them that none of the other animals have so I feel like each animals are even but in a unique kind of ways. So I really think that Elephants are not the greatest animal of all time.

Week 1 - Do Now Activity

Hello people! today I will be blogging about today's task we have in our English class which is writing.

The topic for this writing is "School Holidays should be only 1 week long"

To be honest for me I don't really agree to this since every term in a school year each have lots of weeks to do school work and lots of activities they're busy with. 1 week is not really enough for those people who worked hard and really busy on those terms so maybe at least 2 weeks of break from school is a lot more better than one since I don't really think people don't really get to relax in that one week break..Also so that all the teachers can take a break from school and have more time with their family and being stress about school work for the students. But in two weeks break you can relax a lot more and you can do a lot more things without to worry about it since you don't get to stress about more school work and stuff like that. So 1 week is not really that enough to all of those people that work in school like the stuff members and the students who come to school.

Kintsugi - wga

Hello people today this will be my first blog this term, term 2. This blog is about the topic we will be  focusing on this week and possibly next or the next few weeks that we will be working on. As you can tell in the tittle this will be about Kintsugi. If you have heard of this word you probably already know what it means and if you haven't yet I will explain what it means just for you!

Kintsugi is a Japanese word meaning golden repair or golden joinery in English. This is one of the Japanese arts Japanese people does in Japan and this is like a traditional art for them in Japan. It is an art where they repair broken pottery by fixing the broken areas by mixing powered gold, silver, or platinum with glue and stick it in the broken parts and it makes beautiful design that the old plain cups, bowls, pots it was back then.  This type of art is really amazing because even though you might not be able to use it anymore it can be a great design inside your house!

Well that's all for my blog today people! Thanks for reading! I'm sorry its a little bit short...
